Armauer Hansen’s Commemorative Rooms opened in 1962 in a former hospital ward and parts of the corridor at Pleiestiftelsen Hospital, which were fitted out as a laboratory and library in 1895. In addition to the laboratory and library equipment used by many different doctors over the years, a number of other artefacts were collected: Hansen’s most important scientific works, awards and personal items, as well as documents and correspondence relating to the Second International Conference on Leprosy, which was held in Bergen in 1909.
The objects in the Commemorative Rooms are owned by The Bergen Collections on the History of Medicine.
